The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone of a new shopping centre was attended by representatives of two developers: TK Development and GEMO Olomouc, which is the General Contractor of the project. The shopping centre is scheduled to open to the public in autumn 2014.
With an area of approx. 15,000 m2, the centre will offer a total of 60 shops, restaurants, cafés, fast food outlets and other services. There will also be an underground car park with approx. 600 parking spaces. In addition to the new shopping centre, residents of Frýdek-Místek may look forward to the complete renewal of the surrounding area. The river bank promenade will also undergo a facelift and in future the site should be connected to the municipal bicycle route system.
"The project of the shopping centre and the project of the adjacent multi-purpose Polárka Sports Hall will together reach an investment cost of nearly one billion CZK. This is the largest investment of this kind in the city the last 20 years. It will significantly improve the utilisation of the local workforce and local production capacity," says Ing. Bohumil Mach, CEO of GEMO Olomouc. This project will bring over 80 million CZK to Frýdek-Místek's budget.
More than 80% of the shopping centre's capacity is already leased and approximately 10% of the capacity is currently under negotiation. The shops and the administration of the centre will create about 200 jobs.
